Fulfilling the Void (solo exhibition/installation)
RUNNELS GALLERY, Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM
Fulfilling the Void is an installation centered around the redaction of memory and the associated vacancy of identity. The exhibit is partially influenced by the FBI and CIA handling of the Roswell UFO incident. Evolving based on a survey, the space will manifest three phases, each requiring various levels of redaction through “blacking out” components of the exhibition.
During the closing reception performers redacted the Observation Station, altering identity through methods of information removal.
patrons of the exhibit were encouraged to participate in the REDACTION SURVEY.

Phase 2
A methodical redaction of the Observation station. The ratio of “blacking out,” or “redaction” in this case, corresponds to the results of the Redaction Survey with participants choosing Black 53% and White 47%. In the process of redacting the object it is not removed, but merely transformed into a darker iteration of itself based on public nuanced reaction.
