Ryder Richards was a fellow at Roswell Artist-in-Residence from September 2012 until August 2013, and is now art department chair and faculty at Eastfield College in Mesquite, TX.

Known for his many long-term collaborations, Ryder is the co-founder of the RJP NOMADIC GALLERY [link], a traveling art gallery in the form of a 24’ Ryder moving truck, and CULTURE LABORATORY [link], an internet based collective interested in idea exchange and social development through exhibitions. He is also a member of Dallas-based collective THE ART FOUNDATION [link] who curated Boom Town at the Dallas Museum of Art, had Fountainhead accepted into the collection of the Nasher Sculpture Center, and created an installation at The Reading Room for the Texas Biennial 2013. During his year in Roswell he developed an international gallery series curating The Cube [link], a 10 foot cubed space/gallery built inside his art studio.

Ryder continues to explore art through several bodies of work with the subject matter often derived from his interest and research into architectural influence, conspiracy, art world strategies, and cultural labor. He is the recipient of several scholarships and awards including artist-in-residence programs at Roswell, New Mexico; Public Address, Brooklyn, New York; Studio Kura, Japan; Vermont Studio Center, Vermont; Hilmsen, Germany; Hambidge, Georgia; ARC, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Stoveworks, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Paducah, Kentucky and Portales, New Mexico.

Ryder has ceased curating exhibits while still occasionally writing art reviews. He previously wrote for publications such as Temporary Art ReviewGlasstire.com, D Magazine, and Cornell Press. He is the founder and editor of Eutopia: Contemporary Art Review [link]. He started podcasting at Let Us THiNK About It in 2020.
