Culture Laboratory: Utopia: Can it Stay Dream? Groundfloor Gallery, Nashville, TN
Series:
Utopia: Practical Notions _ drawing from Isaac Newton’s assertion of the Dome of the Rock as the center of Time/Space, the series considers a continual process of planning and occultation.

Redaction/Reduction _ taking a single redaction mark from the Roswell UFO files it has been developed into several sculptural forms generating multiple voices.
Simulacra _ drawing from Baudrillard’s text the work considers ubiquity as an enactment of it’s disappearance.
Subjective Machines _ drawing from Rothko, High-Modernism, the ubiquity of textual information, and science fiction and religion’s roles in furthering universalist aesthetics.
Subjective Machines is being developed for Ryder’s upcoming solo exhibition and installation, The Idyll, at Lawndale, Houston from January 23-February 28, 2015.

Ryder is the founder and editor of Eutopia: Contemporary Art Review. Offering 100 word reviews Eutopia has produced 2 catalogs and over 50 reviews in 2014. We are currently partners with Temporary Art Review, which features monthly curated selections from Eutopia.
